This fantastic tour delves into England’s wonderful culture and history, explores the best of Wales and sample a true taste of Scotland. Castles, monoliths, lakes and mountains await you on a journey through spectacular scenery, proud culture, and experiences you won’t forget. The hustle and bustle of London provides a great starting point; take time to settle in, relax and enjoy the time to visit some of the most famous sites in the world, before your tour truly begins.

 

Amble through quintessential English villages dotted into the miles of rolling hills and countryside; enjoy views over vast lakes and parks as you enjoy afternoon tea and cake served over china, or a cold pint of beer and scratchings in a cosy firelit pub. Crossing the Severn Bridge announces your entry into Wales where mile after mile of stunning scenery awaits; travel roads and rail that snake along the coastline, skirting peninsulas just feet from the sea and passing through tunnels that have been literally carved through mountains.

 

Visit medieval walled towns domineered by castles and where roads are lined with age old cobblestones and explore botanical gardens at your leisure before continuing north crossing the border into Scotland where the land becomes increasingly rugged and dramatically beautiful; valleys, lochs and glens await plus experiences that you would not want to miss. Scotland is so welcoming, and the locals certainly know how to throw a party. A country that world famous for its architecture, whisky and shortbread, your visit would not be complete without trying the local delicacy of haggis. Day 1:

Arrive in London (2 nights)

Simply an amazing city, vibrant in colour and pageantry. Perhaps one of the most famous cities in the world, and today its yours to explore. There's so much to see and take in, from the imposing dome of St Pauls Cathedral, the Tower of London, and the Shard which rises high into the sky. Don't waste a minute of this fabulous city; with a fun and flexible 'hop on hop off' bus tour. A perfect casual introduction to the UK's historical capital.

Day 2:

London Sightseeing and Time at Leisure.

This morning take the opportunity to explore London's more historical monuments under the superb guidance of a local expert. Take in the stunning architecture of perhaps the most well-known landmarks of Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. A big favourite is Buckingham Palace; the official residence of the Royals and of course the queen's guards with their impressive bearskin hats. Your guiding expert will have a font of knowledge and feel free to ask as many questions as you like. The rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure. If shopping is your thing....a visit to the famous Oxford Street is not to be missed. Amble the 300 shops which adorn just over a mile of shopping heaven!

Day 3:

London - Stonehenge - Bath - Cardiff

Meet your tour director this morning; an essential point of contact and someone to rely on during your time spent on this amazing tour. After breakfast we leave the hustle and bustle of London heading west to perhaps the most famous piece of stonemasonry in the world! Stonehenge's monoliths are still to this day a thing of wonder; myths surrounding this centuries-old site remain a mystery. Onwards to the World Heritage site of Bath, where typical Georgian architecture is epitomised through its abbey and bridges; a visit to the Roman baths is of course a must. We end our day in Cardiff, the capital of Wales. This fantastic city offers an abundance of culture and a warm welcome. Enjoy a tour of the city to see the Principality Stadium with its magnificent features, making it one of the most iconic stadiums in the world, then Cardiff Castle; a medieval castle and Victorian Gothic revival mansion located in the city centre of Cardiff. Tonight enjoy a welcome reception and look forward to the journey ahead.

Day 4:

Cardiff - Conwy - Liverpool

We say goodbye to the south and head north taking you through some of the most dramatic scenery imaginable; en-route we make a short stop in the heart of mid wales at Rhayader famous for its Welsh Royal Crystal workshops, a piece of which was created and presented to Prince William and Kate Middleton in celebration of their wedding. Take time to browse the shop or enjoy cake and coffee before continuing our journey through the Brecon beacons and Snowdonia National Park to Conwy, a UNESCO Heritage walled town. Early afternoon Enjoy a couple of hours exploring the truly fascination town of Conwy. A coastal medieval walled town lined with age old cobblestones; Conwy is simply enchanting. The town has an historical backdrop domineered by the historic Conwy Castle, it's streets are lined in age old cobblestones and surrounded by castle walls that are almost complete. The Conwy Suspension Bridge is also worth a stroll along, the grade I-listed structure is one of the first road suspension bridges in the world, and now in the care of the National Trust. Later we leave Wales and head over the border to Liverpool; a maritime city where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea. Also more famously the hometown of The Beatles. Enjoy the evening at leisure with perhaps a visit to the Cavern Club, where the Beatles once played.

Day 5:

Liverpool - Lake District - Gretna Green - Edinburgh (2 nights)

Climbing ever North today, meander through picturesque towns and villages; the rural landscape becoming increasingly rugged and wild as Scotland draws closer. Our leisurely drive takes in the ever changing scenery of the Lake District; Lake Windermere is exceptionally beautiful, with a stunning backdrop of mountains, the shimmering waters are breath-taking, what better way to appreciate your surroundings than stepping on-board a fantastic cruise followed by a steam train ride. Hear all about Windermere and the local landscape, learn facts on the lake's fascinating history, wildlife and colourful forna. No need to worry about the weather either; cruises are well-equipped for any occasion with heated inner cabins, outdoor seating on a viewing deck, toilets and bar/café serving hot and cold drinks and refreshments. Later, travel back in time when you climb aboard a beautiful steam train.

A stop is planned at Gretna Green, a parish just over the border of England into Scotland. In years gone by, Gretna's Blacksmith Priests could marry runaway couples on the spot, in a simple 'marriage by declaration', or 'handfasting' ceremony, only requiring two witnesses and assurances from the couple that they were both free to marry.

An afternoon arrival into Edinburgh where we spend the next two nights with the possibility of seeing the spectacular Military Edinburgh Tattoo if the dates allow.

Day 6:

Edinburgh Time at Leisure

Edinburgh's beauty is obvious and inimitable, but there so much more than just a façade! Edinburgh has a feel to it, the history and warm welcome almost tangible. Take a closer look and there's much more to discover. Today Edinburgh is there to be explored under your own steam. The shopping ranges from designer brands to local, independent artisans just waiting to be discovered. Food be it high end, a pop-up restaurant or street-food; all delicious and certainly impressive. History is on every corner with green spaces scattered around the city centre, great for a picnic in the summer months. Take today, and discover your own Edinburgh. This afternoon why not join your tour leader on an optional excursion visiting Royal Yacht Britannia, and later this evening consider joining in on a fantastic evening of Scottish fayre and frivolity!

Afternoon Optional Experience: Royal Yacht Britannia - $30

Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia, also known as the Royal Yacht Britannia, is the former royal yacht of the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, which served use from 1954 until 1997. Step aboard this former floating palace and follow in the footsteps of Royalty to discover the heart and soul of this most special of Royal residences. Discover why this vessel was so famous across the globe for hosting magnificent state receptions, banquets, and grandeur. The Royal Apartments were an elegant setting to entertain world leaders such as Sir Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela, Ronald Reagan and Rajiv Gandhi.

Evening Optional Experience: Evening and Dinner and Drive to Historic Torphichen - $60

Enjoy a wonderful evening of Scottish hospitality and entertainment in this delightful Scottish Inn, here in the historic village of Torphichen. On arrival, you will be met by our local bagpiper, who plays a selection of Scottish songs, old and new, as you make your way into the Inn. Receive a complementary drink, before staff begin taking dinner orders. Dinner consists of a three course authentic and home-cooked meal together with the opportunity to taste haggis following the famed 'Address to the Haggis' ceremony. The menu is entirely made up of traditional Scottish fare, and all meat and fish are locally sourced.

Day 7:

Edinburgh - Alnwick Castle - Hadrian's Wall - Harrogate

This morning we meander in a southernly direction, leaving the Scotland behind us. Our first stop is Alnwick Castle; which on sight is more familiar than you would think! Here a multitude of scenes have been filmed from the likes of Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, The Last Knight and Transformers, this location is certainly no stranger to film crews. We continue our journey crossing over the world famous Hadrian's Wall; a defence that was once built to guard the wild north-west frontier of the Roman Empire, and today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later we arrive at Harrogate, a sophisticated and quintessentially English town. Harrogate has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and once visited, you'll certainly agree.

Day 8:

Harrogate - Stratford-upon-Avon - London

What better way to end this fantastic tour that to visit the birthplace of one of the world's most famous 'A lister' of his time William Shakespeare. Stratford Upon Avon; perched on the river Avon, this idyllic town is simply beautiful. One of the most important tourist destinations in England; Stratford invites you to travel back in time, to meander through its cobbled streets, or picnic by the river, a visit to Shakespeare actual birth place and Anne Hathaway's thatched cottage is obviously a must, before we say goodbye to this place of romance and theatre, before returning to London this evening.
